The Jerusalem Municipality Naming Committee has given its final approval for the following new street names.
Shmuel HaNavi-Bar Ilan Junction is now called Maran HaRav Ovadia Yosef Junction.
Kiryat Chinuch in Ramot Daled is now called Kiryat Chinuch HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv.
A street was also named after the late Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu ZT”L as well as for the late Chief Rabbi Avraham Kahana Shapira and Rosh Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav HaGaon HaRav Moshe Tzvi Neria.
Other new street names include:
- Rabbi Yitzchak Tzvi Rivlin (Rav Zichron Moshe)
- Rebitzen Mushka Orenstein (Her and her husband were known as ‘Shomrei HaKosel’)
- Two soldiers who gave their lives to save others, Major Roi Klein and Natan Elbaz (In line with 50th anniversary of liberation of Jerusalem)
- Route 16, a new entrance to the city after the 11th PM, Ariel Sharon
(YWN – Israel Desk, Jerusalem)
Everything is good, except for Sharon. The PA should have renamed Gush Katif as Gush Sharon, because he gave it away.
One of the chadorim in Kiryat Yearim changed the school’s name to Ayelet Hashachar, l’iluy nishmas Moreinu Harav Shteinman ZT”L.
