(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Israel Police Chief Roni Alshich led a high-level visit with members of the Border Police’s Yomam anti-terror force wounded in fighting last week in Jenin. Accompanying the chief were Deputy Chief of Border Police Uzi Levy, Coastal District Commander Peretz Amar, and Yomam Commander N.

During his visit, the police chief was impressed by the courageous activities of the fighters who acted valiantly against the terrorist in a frontal confrontation when he opened fire at them. The director of the hospital, Prof. Rafael Beyar, briefed the police commissioner on the medical treatment received by the wounded in the field, including lifesaving and complementary treatment in the hospitals.

Minute by minute, the fighters described to the police commissioner what had happened in the complex operational activity during which the two were wounded and the terrorist was killed.

Alshich commented, “The Yomam has once again demonstrated its operational and intelligence capabilities in an unprecedented scale, and it has recorded daily significant operational achievements in the war against terrorism and in serious crime, and the activity of thwarting the terror cell that murdered Rabbi Raziel Shevach was part of an extensive activity to decipher the murder and to thwart further murderous intentions of the cell and its collaborators. ”

The chief again thanked the fighters for their courage: “In the name of the citizens of Israel, I salute you and pledge that we will continue to develop the Yomam as a national counter-terrorism unit.”

At the end of his words, Alshich wished him a speedy recovery and a quick return to the ranks of the Special Operations Unit and operational readiness.
