Israel’s Attorney General Instructs Police to Delay Recommending Charges Against Netanyahu

Israel’s Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit instructed the police on Sunday night not to submit their recommendations regarding the possible indictments of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in two corruption probes.

The reasoning that Mandelblit gave in his request was in order to allow a petition currently sitting before the High Court of Justice to run its course. The petition seeks to cancel the police practice of giving an opinion on whether to press charges or not in a criminal case. Naturally, the proceedings could have a direct impact on the submission of recommendations in the Netanyahu affair.

The Police were supposed to submit their recommendations this coming Tuesday, and due to the request, that will now be pushed off to an undetermined time after the High Court hears the petition. The High Court of Justice is expected to decide regarding the petition in the coming days, thus the delay of the police recommendations is not expected to be a long one.

The cases the Prime Minister is being investigated with regards to are the so-called 1000 Case, wherein the Prime Minister and his wife, Sara, are suspected of receiving illicit gifts from billionaire benefactors and the 2000 Case, which involves a suspected illicit deal between the Prime Minister and Arnon Mozes who is the main publisher of the Israeli daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

  1. The High Court of Justice is expected to decide regarding the petition in the coming days In Adar, and IY’H the courts shall dismiss all this tripe, because Israel desperately needs Prime-Minister Netanyahu to remain in office. He has build great relationships with numerous world leaders, and no-one could ever fill his huge shoes.
