Vice President Cheney to Visit Israel

cheney.jpgVice President Dick Cheney will visit the Middle East later this month to meet with various leaders in the region. A White House statement Monday says Cheney will leave on March 16, and make stops in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Turkey.

The statement says he will meet with leaders in the region to discuss issues of mutual interest. The vice president’s trip follows a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice last week to Israel and the West Bank.

  1. He has shown to be a true friend to Israel. Unfortunately, he is a member of an administration who has a Secretary of State who runs a State Department who have not changed their tune one bit.

  2. As Secretary of Defense, Cheney sent a letter to the Israeli Minister of Defense congratulating him on the bombing of the reactor at Osirik. That letter was made public by Cheney in his keynote speech at the 50th Israeli Independence Day banquet.

As for the Bush Administration vis-a-vis the State Department, look at actions not words. Condi is allowed to say whatever she wants (or has) to say, but the bottom line is to date, there is no Palestinian State, and no Peace Treaty, as much as the Israeli Government wants them (Bush and Cheney want neither, by the way).

  3. I have high hopes for Cheney’s visit. He’s the man with the most “screwed on straight” head in the Bush administration and knows what’s the right and moral thing to do for this country – and, by extension, for the most loyal US ally – Israel.
