Eida Chareidis Supports Removing Child from Parents Against their Will

Perhaps a first but the Eida Chareidis is calling upon its tzibur to assist police in an ongoing investigation. Police on Sunday 1 Rosh Chodesh Adar 5773 arrived at the home of a family identified as belonging to the so-called ‘shawl’ cult. A member of that family, an infant R”L was niftar from the flu. Now it appears the family has vanished and the Eida is involved, seeking to determine their whereabouts.

Police, border police and social workers arrived at the Edmond Street home in Meah Shearim at about 2:00am days after the petira of the son. There were allegations of negligence surrounding his death as well as reports that another child in the family may have taken ill as well. The rabbonim of the Eida seem to be cooperating with social services to remove the child from the home but it appears the parents realized what is taking place and they fled. When authorities arrived no one was at home.

Eida Gavaad Rav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita signed a kol korei asking for the tzibur’s cooperation towards locating the family. Apparently authorities were alerted after the mother failed to appear for a physical exam.

  1. Finally a wake-up call that this CULT group is mentally ill, and assistance is needed before other innocent children die of neglect.

  2. calling them ‘shawl ladies’ does not adequately describe them; they are a lunatic fringe. They believe that only they are modest and ‘frum’.

We must have pity on their children and we must discourage others from being snarled in their false piety. The Rambam says the proper way of behaving is the middle road, not the extremes.

These wretched women believe they are superior to everyone else but in reality are messed up. Worse is their poor children who will not see a normal life or home.

  3. Just for the record:

The high court in Israel has investigated this group for the past three years, about two month ago the court ruled that it’s not considered a cult since it’s a bunch of individuals with out any leader.

It’s not even considered “a group” of any sort, it’s made out of some individual women who dress in a very Tznius way to bring the Geulah closer for all of us.
