Israel: Litzman Favors a Mandatory Vaccination Policy

Deputy Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman is a strong proponent of vaccinations for children, and as such, he has instructed ministry officials to look into the possibility of making vaccinations mandatory. This is in light of an increase in the number of parents preferring not to have their children vaccinated, and an increase in the spread of illness as a result.

Ministry officials are probing the legalities of a policy that would condition a child’s acceptance in kindergartens on showing the child’s vaccination record.

MK (Likud) Oren Chazan initiated a bill that would prevent children who are unvaccinated from entering kindergarten. He feels that while a parent may feel s/he has the right not to vaccinate a child, that child should not be permitted to endanger the well-being of children who are vaccinated.

  1. There is a very strong case against vaccinations. Not by conspiracy kooks but my qualified medical doctors and research scientists. Many have concluded that vaccines do not work and in fact cause great harm. Their opinions should be heard and evaluated by the public. The summary dismissal of any opinion other than that approved by the pharmaceutical industry is a serious mistake. Prior to a political decision, there should be a public debate before a Knesset committee. Those supporting vaccinations should present their information and those opposing vaccinations should present theirs. This is a technical issue that must be decided on the merits of the fact and not by fear mongering or emotions. The Israeli public is intelligent and educated enough to evaluate the legitimacy of both sides.

  2. Terrible! Government has no right to mandate what we do with our bodies. If your child is vaccinated, they should be protected. There should be no concern then abt unvaccinated children. Are they also going to mandate that all the staff get vaccinated too? This is not an issue of whether or not I believe in vaccines, it’s a matter of allowing our govnmnt take away out rights….

  3. C”V. With all due respect to R. Litzman, forcing parents against their will to vaccinate when they strongly believe that vaccines are unsafe (there are many independent studies that prove this), is communism and certainly against the Torah. Rabbi Shmuel Kamentsky, Rabbi Mattisyahu Solomon and Malkiel Kotler are on my side about this issue. Rabbi Kanievsky responded to a question asked by Dr. Shanik whether a school should not accept non-vaccinated children, he responded schools must accept them. I pray that R. Litzman not act like the goyim in America by taking away the right of parents to decide how to take care of their children.
