In a rare move, Kiryat Arba Chief Rabbi Dov Lior gave an interview to the mainstream press, apparently due to the urgent situation regarding the planned handover of weapons and ammunition to the Palestinian Authority.
Rav Lior, Rav Sholom Dov Wolpe and Rav Yisrael Ariel are among the prominent Rabbonim who affixed their signatures to a halachic ruling (Rabbinical ruling) calling on those able to do so to interfere with the planned handing over of armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition to the Palestinian Authority.
Rav Lior explained anyone taking part in giving the PA the military equipment will be halachicly responsible for the bloodshed that will follow, stating with absolute certainty that the weapons will be turned against Jews as has been the case in the past.
MK Ran Cohen of the radical left-wing Meretz Party called on Attorney General Menachem Mazuz to take action against the rabbis who signed the ruling, stating this will lead to another assassination as was the political climate leading to the murder of Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin. Cohen wants them placed under arrest and placed on trial for their actions.

Rav Avigdor Miller, ZT”L, once said that there will come a time when the State of Israel will arrest Rabbonim who express the Torah-True viewpoint.

in this same time period that I hear victims of presidential candidate barak obama’s reverend wright speak up for wright’s right to free speech, it is ironic to see the lack of free speech and threatened abuse of arrest powers being used against those expressing a logical connection between bad policy and results of past similar actions.
