IDF officials expressed criticism regarding Friday’s visit to Kibbutz Nir Am by Public Security Minister Avi Dichter and his entourage, including a visiting Canadian delegation.

Ditcher’s bureau chief, Moti Gil, was moderately wounded by sniper fire which rang out while they were visiting an area.

Military officials stated that Dichter’s staff failed to notify the proper military channels ahead of his visit to the area. Military officials did not criticize his decision to visit the area, but did state the required security precautions were not taken.
