Terrorist Infiltration into Kerem Shalom Prevented

An IDF patrol on Thursday afternoon detected three armed terrorists attempting to infiltrate into the Kerem Shalom area along the Gaza border.

The patrol spotted the terrorists near a commercial crossing, opening fire. One terrorist was killed, one wounded and the third escaped.

Following the attempted attack, the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing was closed. 18 of 38 trucks waiting to enter into Gaza did so prior to the attack. The others were barred from crossing following the attempted attack.

An attack at Kerem Shalom led to the June 2006 abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, who remains in captivity today.
