Updates from Barzilai Hospital and MDA Following Shabbos & Motzei Shabbos Rocket Fire from Gaza


Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon during the night received a total of 79 patients with injuries related to the rocket attacks from Gaza, hospital spokesperson Eyal Kedar reports.

One person died, one is listed in serious condition, and one moderate. 26 victims of rocket fire were treated for hysteria and 50 persons were treated for light injuries. 49 of the victims were released while 18 others are slated to be released. 10 of the victims have been admitted.

MDA spokesman Zaki Heller:
From 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM, MDA EMTs and paramedics provided medical treatment and evacuated 24 injured (6 from shrapnel, 2 from running to protected area and 16 with stress symptoms), including a 60 year old man who was critically injured by shrapnel in his chest (in Ashkelon), 5 mildly injured by shrapnel (Ashkelon area), 2 were injured on their way to the protected area, and 16 suffered from stress symptoms attack.

From Saturday at 10:00 AM until 7:00 AM Sunday, MDA EMTs and paramedics provided medical treatment to 83 injured (4 shrapnel, 12 injured on the way to the protected area, 62 who suffered stress symptoms). Nine injured by shrapnel, a 60-year-old man who was evacuated in critical condition (in Ashkelon), a woman of about 80 (in Kiryat Gat) who was evacuated in serious condition with shrapnel wounds to her face and limbs.

A man of about 50 (in the Ashkelon area) in moderate condition with shrapnel injuries to his limbs evacuated to Barzilai and six minor injured in Ashkelon and northern Negev areas. In addition, the MDA teams treated 12 mildly people who were injured while running to the protected area, 62 patients who suffered from symptoms of hysteria.
