Olmert: We Have Sinned Against Holocaust Survivors

olmert.jpgPrime Minister Ehud Olmert in his Yad Vashem address on Wednesday night during the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony spoke of the state’s sins against the survivors of the Holocaust, those who were not treated properly, those who are compelled to live in harsh conditions, poverty, those who were not and are not given the proper measure of respect due them.

Representatives of Holocaust survivors have expressed words of praise for Olmert, for leading the first administration that has acknowledged the injustices as well as taking steps to correct them.

The prime minister also spoke of the deniers who dare raise their heads today, those who still plot against the Jews and the Israelis, those who wish to see the Jewish People disappear.

“The Jewish state was not created because of the Holocaust,” stated the prime minister, “but rather because of the Jewish People’s right to its Homeland.”

“Who would ever believe” stated Olmert that today, 63 years later; the haters continue to rear their ugly heads, working with tenacious determination towards striking out against Israel and the Jewish People.

  1. he didn’t speak against the states hand in the mass-murder of the hungarian jews by purposely ruining the negotiations of rabbi m. b. weissmandel. and about the letter they sent to hitler yemach shemo which provoked his hatred against the jews.
    i wonder why?!

  2. Not Providing kosher food for the isreali students who participated in this years ‘march of the living’ in order to cut costs is a SIN against THOSE WHO PERISHED hy’d -that jewish boys and girls should eat treif on the blood soaked soil of europe where so many were moser nefesh to keep all the mitzvos INCLUDING KASHRUS in the horrible conditions they were subjected to was not mentioned by olmert. the kedoshim hy’d did not die al kidush hashem so that we should have a moment of silence and that the stores should close early on yom hashoah but they WOULD be thankfull for a moment of tehilim and to see that in the land of the jews storeowners are fearfull of fines for opening on SHABBOS not just yom hashoah. may we all merit to truly understand the lessons of the past…..
