Indictment To Be Filed Against Welfare Minister Chaim Katz, Who Will Have To Resign From The Cabinet Ahead Of Elections

Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit on Wednesday announced that he is going to be filing a criminal indictment for fraud and breach of trust, among other charges; against Minister of Welfare & Social Services (Likud) Chaim Katz.

Katz is suspected of illegal dealings with businessman Moti Ben-Air, who advised him on his financial portfolio as Katz allegedly advanced a bill in Knesset that would assist them both.

The attorney general has decided to drop the bribery charge against him in this case and he has closed an additional case against him, known as the Israel Aerospace Industries case.

Once the actual indictment is filed, Katz will have to resign from the cabinet post but may remain a MK.
