Israel Police Traffic Cops Step Up Enforcement At The Entrance To The City

A month after Shazar Street was closed off to private vehicles, traffic police in Jerusalem have significantly stepped up enforcement, with drivers using the street that was closed being fined NIS 500.

Police announce the warning period to permit motorists to acclimate to the new traffic conditions has ended and cars entering the city that turn onto Shazar Blvd. between Herzl and Nordau Junction, the area of the road for public transportation, will be fined NIS 500.

Police report that during past weeks, warnings have been issued to drivers but from now on, NIS 500 fines will be levied against drivers using the public transportation lane.

Police announced that beginning on August 25, 2019, this coming Sunday, police will step up enforcement regarding the area designated as a public transportation lane.

Police emphasize that any vehicle that is not designated officially as a ‘public transportation vehicle’ may not enter the lane, and persons apprehended will be fined NIS 500.
