Police Remove Doll Hanging in Meah Shearim Intended to Insult the Department [PHOTOS]

Police on Sunday evening arrived in the Meah Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem to remove a police-like doll hanging in the community.

Police say: “The Israel Police will continue operating in any and all areas, including this incident, which represents an affront to all who wear the uniform”.

Police opened an investigation in the hope of apprehending those responsible for hanging the doll.

Kikar Shabbos News reports it conducted its own investigation and learned that children in cheder are behind the dolls, citing there have literally been tens of dolls and fires set by children in the community, most of which never making the media.

Kikar explains the small children rummage the neighborhood looking for appropriate clothing, including visits to clothing gemachs. Once the appropriate clothing is found, they then fill the items with carton and whatever they can find, and eventually, the doll is hung on display and then one of them run to a payphone in the community and calls police. Usually, police recognize a child’s voice and ignore the call, but at times, the operator believes it is an older person calling and a unit is dispatched.

The report concludes that a police source blames the adults of the community, citing the children see the work that takes place ahead of Purim, and how they hang IDF soldiers in effigy, explaining if not for that, the children would not be acting as they do year-round.

  1. Normal people do not get insulted by a doll. Nor do police that serve the public open investigations over a doll. Police that are in fact a hostile force of occupation serving foreign masters must respond harshly to any challenge of authority. That is how the British police responded during the Mandate.

  2. rebmoish, did you hear of the fifth chelek of the SA? people who haven’t, ask silly questions and don’t follow the 4th that carefully. anyone you know??
