SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*14,000 policemen will be assigned to protect Yerushalayim during the coming days as world leaders converge on the capital for President Peres’ conference.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Eli Livni, brother of FM Tzipi Livni commented the Sunday evening Kadima support rally for PM Olmert in Petach Tikvah was a “pathetic event by pathetic people”.

*Supporters of FM Tzipi Livni calling on aides to PM Olmert to halt attacks on the foreign minister, which they insist are destroying their political party.

*Emergency declared in Ben-Gurion Intl Airport on Monday morning after a 2-person plane announced it was having difficulties. The plane did eventually land without incident.

*A fire was reported during the late morning hours Monday in the new Modi’in shopping center. No injuries.

*Rabbis delaying registering converts for marriage pending the decision of Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar on the controversial conversions.

*5 civilians and 2 firefighters injured lightly after inhaling a toxic substance that leaked from a factory during a brush fire in Be’er Yaakov. Ayalon MDA and firefighters responded to scene. Injured transported to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital in Tzrifin.

*Foreign Minister Livni now calling for Shalit release to be tied to a deal with Hamas.

*A Chevron resident who entered an area under PA control to buy food was arrested by PA police.

*Two people were seriously injured in a gas explosion in a falafel shop on Ein Rogel Street in Yerushalayim.
