Lieberman Calls on Shas to Leave Coalition, Again

Yisrael Beitenu opposition party leader Avigdor Lieberman has once again called on Shas to leave the coalition, stating that the party seems to make a differentiation between statements and actions, explaining that it threatened to bring down the coalition when the prime minister hinted as concessions involving Yerushalayim, but now, regarding the Golan Heights, Shas remains silent.

Shas officials in their response stated the issues of the capital, the Golan and other priority matters will be brought before the Council of Torah Sages and as always, the rabbanim will make decisions and direct the lawmakers as how to act.

Shas also lashed out at Lieberman, stating they are not about to take mussar from a member of the former disengagement government, referring to the administration that brought about the eviction of close to 10,000 Jews from their homes and the subsequent destruction of Gush Katif.
