Despite high-level meetings between Shas and government officials, Finance Minister Roni Bar-On remains adamantly opposed to increasing child allowance payments.

From the Shas perspective, the party�s religious mentor, Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlita, stated the child allowance issue is a deal-breaker and if the government does not comply, he has instructed the party to bring down the coalition.
