Tragedy In Israel: Chareidi Girl Passes Away After Drowning At Netanya Beach

A 20-year-old Chareidi girl from Jerusalem passed away overnight Sunday at Laniado Hospital in Netanya after drowning hours earlier at the beach in the city.

The girl was on a trip to the beach with friends on Sunday afternoon and began drowning after entering the water to swim.

Hatzalah paramedics called to the scene carried out CPR after she was pulled from the water, and evacuated her to the hospital in critical condition.

The girl’s friends heard about the terrible tragedy as they arrived at their post-high school program on Monday morning, where they were about to leave for a three-day trip to Tzfas. Instead, they returned home and prepared to attend the levaya.

  1. One year I went to sleepaway camp in Israel. We visited Natanya and went to the beach. I swam a certain distance not too far but there was an undertow and no matter how hard I tried I wasn’t moving and it got scary.I called out to the inattentive lifeguard who did not hear me and I thought I was a goner, Chas v’Shalom. All of a sudden a huge wave out of nowhere came and dropped me on the beach. Hashem saved my life. Hodu LaShem Kee To, Kee L’Olam Chasdo! People must warn all others about how these currents work especially in Natanya.

sure, it’s important to know if they are part of am yisroel or not. we are not supposed to mourn the death of reshoyim. (btw I am not meaning to imply that only charedim are part of am yisroel, however in Eretz Yisroel, there are many “Jews” who would halachicly not be part of “amcha”, and while we don’t know any individual’s din v’cheshbon in shamayim, we are certainly obligated to respond according to the externals we see)

  3. Ok, so the very important fact that she was single and not married has been communicated, but can we nevertheless start calling females who are 18+ yrs old women instead of girls?

  4. Why is there no mention of the life saving efforts of the lifeguard(a) only the fact that Hatzalah paramedics called to the scene carried out CPR?
