IDF Preparing for Week-Long Assault on Iran’s Nuclear Infrastructure If US Talks Collapse

Israel is preparing for a rapid military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities if ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington fall apart, according to a report by Axios citing two Israeli sources familiar with the matter.

According to one source, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is closely watching the diplomatic developments and awaiting the right political moment to act.

“Bibi is waiting for the nuclear talks to collapse and for the moment Trump will be disappointed about the negotiations and open to giving him the go-ahead,” the source said, referring to President Donald Trump.

The Israeli intelligence community, which once believed a deal was within reach, now reportedly sees the talks nearing collapse. One of the sources told Axios that Israeli military leaders fear the strategic window for a strike may be closing fast, though specific details were not disclosed.

Both sources confirmed a Tuesday CNN report indicating that the IDF is actively preparing for a strike, which would likely target Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. However, any such operation would not be a one-time event. Instead, the sources said it would require a sustained campaign lasting at least a week.

“There was a lot of training, and the U.S. military sees everything and understands Israel is preparing,” one of the sources said, suggesting a high level of transparency — and potentially coordination — between the two allies.

While Israeli officials have long maintained that all options are on the table to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, the intensity of current preparations suggests that military action may no longer be hypothetical.

  1. YWN are not revealing some sort of top-secret military information. This is publicly available knowledge that is being reported on by all major news outlets around the world.

  2. @Chavasdaaas: The fact that you’re reading it, means it’s intentionally out there. It’s part of the mind games between Israel, US and Iran. Israel wants Iran to know it’s coming, to put pressure on them to agree a deal that’s to Israel’s liking. Additionally, it’s probably impossible to conduct a surprise attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and anyway, Israel seriously degraded their air defences and anyway Iran knows full well that it’ll happen sooner or later. The only problem is that by all accounts, even a full scale attack and even with US direct involvement, would only set Iran back by a few years max. Without US direct involvement, probably less than a year. There’s no solution to this problem (or any) through kochi veotzem yadi. That’s going to be a bitter pill for Bibi and co and many others to swallow.
