The IDF carried out an airstrike this evening inside the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon, targeting what it says was a Hamas training facility used by operatives preparing attacks against Israel.

Lebanon�s health ministry reports that 13 people were killed and four others wounded in the strike.

According to the IDF, the site functioned as a �military compound� where Hamas terrorists trained �in order to plan and carry out terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.�

The military says multiple precautions were taken to reduce civilian casualties, including the use of �a precision munition, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.�

�The IDF is operating against Hamas�s entrenchment in Lebanon, and will continue to operate against Hamas terrorists wherever they operate,� the army said.

Israeli strikes on Hamas targets in Lebanon are relatively rare. In July, a senior Hamas commander was eliminated in Tripoli, and in May, another commander was killed in Sidon.
