On the first night Chol Hamoed Sukkos in Yerushalayim, on Eli HaCohen Street, a simchas beis hasho’eva was taking place close to midnight. One chareidi bachur was dancing when suddenly; a group of thugs attacked him, with one punching him in an eye.

As a result of the serious eye injury, the victim underwent a major surgical procedure which demanded that he be under general anesthesia. Family members report that the victim’s eyesight may be severely compromised as a result of the injury sustained in the unprovoked beating. Police are investigating. No additional information is available at this time.
