IDF Warns of “Difficult Days Ahead” as Iran’s Missiles and Hezbollah’s Attacks Keep Israel on Edge

The IDF is warning that the country may face several more tense days of missile attacks as fighting with Iran and its regional allies continues, with nationwide restrictions remaining in place as the government braces for further escalation.

Maj. Gen. Shai Klapper, head of the IDF’s Home Front Command, said Wednesday that Israelis should prepare for what “difficult days and days of trial” as Iran continues launching missiles and Hezbollah terrorists fire rockets from Lebanon.

Speaking at a press briefing in northern Israel, Klapper said the Home Front Command is constantly reassessing the security situation but has decided to keep current restrictions in place for the time being.

Under the existing guidelines, educational activities across the country remain suspended, while public gatherings are limited to no more than 50 people — and only in locations where a protected shelter can be reached quickly in the event of an attack. Workplaces are allowed to operate under the same conditions.

“We in the Home Front Command weigh the defensive policy every day,” Klapper said, noting that officials must balance the safety of Israeli civilians with the need to maintain national stability.

“We consider both the security of Israel’s citizens and the need to preserve national continuity, including the functioning of the economy and the education system,” he added.

For now, however, the threat level remains high enough to justify continued restrictions.

“Therefore, the policy remains unchanged for now,” Klapper said.

The current measures are set to remain in effect until Motzei Shabbos at 8 p.m., when the Home Front Command will conduct another security assessment to determine whether the restrictions can be eased.
