In some frum neighborhoods, including Yerushalayim’s Har Nof area, soldiers serving in hesder and other IDF combat units could be seen on Shabbos returning to their bases as they were called back due to the launching of Operation Cast Lead.

Soldiers from combat units were called back as the IDF begins preparations for what may be a ground forces operation as the ongoing aerial operation continues.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak announced on Shabbos that the offensive intended to bring an end to rocket attacks will be expanded as required.
