Rav David Yosef Takes a Jab at Minister Yitzchak Cohen of Shas

One could use the word “turmoil” to describe the situation surrounding a statement from Rav David Yosef, a son of Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlita, who stated the image of the rabbis around Israel is at an unprecedented low due directly to the actions of Minister of Religious Services Yitzchak Cohen of Shas.

Rav David attacked the minister during a rabbinical forum attended by Israel’s chief rabbis.

Rabbi David reports he received widespread support for his comments, adding one rabbi stated that in his city, five employees of the kashrus department have left their jobs and as a result, kashrus in the city is in a state of disaster.

Rabbi David added, “Three years ago I wrote to Cohen about a mikve in a state of disrepair in Har Nof. He has yet to respond to my letter. The man has failed at his position. We have never had such a poor minister of religious affairs and as a direct result; the status of rabbis around the country is at an unprecedented low.”

The breaking story was revealed on Kol Chai Radio on Sunday night by correspondent Assaf Gibor, referring to the Kibbutz Genosar gathering in the presence of the chief rabbis.
