After filing out Mifal HaPayis lottery forms for some 30 years, a 90-year-old Tel Aviv resident took home a cool NIS 26 million. One of the winner’s six children told the press, “If anyone deserves it, my dad does. He came to Israel at a late age and worked hard his entire life”.
The family explains their dad spent NIS 11.60 a week, filling out forms twice a week, entering each drawing with the minimum amount over the last 30 years.
Lottery officials report since the inception of the new lottery in 2009, 22 people won a total of NIS 127 million. In addition, lottery sales have increased 25% as compared to the same time period last year, amounting to NIS 606 million.
