The 41st International Chemistry Olympiad was held in Cambridge, UK. 17-year-old Assaf Meuda from Pardes Chana earned a gold medal. Avitar Degani, 15, the youngest member of the Israeli delegation earned a bronze medal. The two attend the same Chadera high school.
Assaf studies physics and computer science received a 100 in his mathematic matriculation exam. He is involved in a project involving the Technion University in Haifa.
Two other members of the Israeli team did not earn any medals.
