Tuesday Afternoon News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


A multi-count criminal indictment will be filed against Yaakov Teital in the coming days including a charge of first degree murder, the prosecution reports.

**Two unarmed infiltrators from Gaza were taken into custody near the border fence south of Kibbutz Ba’ari on Tuesday.

**The IDF Court of Appeals ruled on Tuesday that Brigadier-General Moshe Tamir will not be knocked down a rank to colonel as ordered by the lower court, also stipulating that any future promotion will be delayed for two years.

**The official Maan PA news agency reported on Tuesday that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) will not only step down as leader, but he will also resign from his position as head of Fatah and the PLO.

**Addressing a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gabi Ashkenazi stated he believes that by the end of the Gregorian year, the international community will have to make decisions regarding Iran, adding that he is preparing all the options and they will be presented to the decision-makers to make the final determination.
