Date Set for Jerusalem Chief Rabbinate Election

After years without chief rabbonim in Yerushalayim, a date has been set for the elections of an ashkenazi and sephardi chief rabbi.

In his capacity as head of the vaad overseeing the elections, a letter was sent by Rav Nissim Ben-Shimon, Av Beis Din Tel Aviv to the legal advisor of the Ministry of Religious Services, announcing the date of the election, 21 Adar 5770 (March 7, 2010).

It should be pointed out this date could be compromised pending petitions to the High Court of Justice.
