Bnei Brak: 4-Year-Old Sustains Serious Burns

Lag B’Omer hasn’t yet arrived, but in Bnei Brak, a 4-year-old girl who returned from kindergarten stopped to observe a bonfire lit by some children, at about 1:00pm on Thursday. It appears the children who were playing with fire did not extinguish the blaze, leaving the area, leaving the danger for all who passed by.

First on the scene was Shmuel Kahane (Hatzolah member), HaMevaser reports, explaining she was on fire upon his arrival. He poured sand on her to extinguish the flames. They then threw a Burnshield blanket over her, and she was transported to a hospital by paramedics, who reported she sustained third degree burns, listing her in moderate condition.

Officials call on parents not to permit unsupervised fires, to have water standing by at any active blaze, and to ensure a fire is totally extinguished prior to leaving an area. These safety tips pertain to year round, not just Lag B’Omer.
