Yeshiva Bochur Tragically Dies in Eretz Yisroel

candle21.gifA Yeshiva Bochur was R”L Niftar this afternoon in Eretz Yisroel while on a Bain Hazmanim outing in Nachal Tzelim (located in the Southern part of the country). The details of the tragic incident are still not 100% clear – but apparently a group of Bochrim went on an outing and a few Bochrim got lost on the Nachal’s trails. Search teams locating the missing boys found them to be severely dehydrated in the deserts sweltering heat. One 20-year-old Bochur was R”L pronounced dead, while four others were transported to the hospital – all suffering from severe dehydration. Boruch Dayan Emmes….

  1. I think Klal Yisroel needs education courses on safety – whether it is safety with matches (three year old burns down a bungalow), safety with young children (one almost drowned in Israel, one was abducted in Brooklyn, this tragic story), safety with hiking (this is the second story of hikers published on this website, but tragically this one does not have a happy ending), etc. Although Hashem is always watching over us, we need to do our histadlus by following safety rules – like not speeding, like not talking on cell phones when we are driving or crossing streets, like wearing bike helmets, like wearing safety belts, like watching our children like a hawk, etc. It seems that people are so preoccupied or stressed out perhaps that all these safety rules are not adhered to. Let us all focus on what we can do in our lives to bring about more safe conditions for ourselves and for those around us. It IS sometimes a matter of life and death.

  2. The Bochur is a Satmar Chosid from Netanya named Miller. They were hiking in the Ein Gedi area. There is currently a horrible heat wave here in Israel and as you can imagine in the desert by Ein Gedi its just unbearable. May we share in only Simchos!!!

  3. everyone must be Dan lecaf zechus. i’m sure these boys were being very careful and took precautions in what they were doing- and were NOT just careless. a story just like this happened to me and a few friends a couple of years back- and afterwords all the media and everyone we met were busy saying things like ,the girls were not careful, they didn’t listen to direction…. all of which were not true. we did exactly what we were told to do and from going thru this whole horrible stiuation it was clear to us and anyone close to us that it was Yad Hashem that guided us to were we got lost and thru the whole situation.
Hashem should comfort the family and all those involved in this horrible situation. and those who are sick should have a complete Refuah shelaima soon

  4. I’m going to be dan lekaf zechus that knmo was trying to joke around. Every person needs a vacation and to stretch ones legs, get some fresh air, and appreciate the beauty around you- especially Eretz Yisrael!!! For someone in his teens, who prob. hasn’t had much time to exercise during the year, it’s even more important for his physical growth and development, besides for spiritual growth.
