At a Turning Point USA event on July 12, 2025, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson declared that American citizens who serve the IDF should be stripped of their U.S. citizenship.
“I quote the New Testament, but I also refer to common sense when I say that no man can serve two masters, it’s not possible,” he said, in response to a question about whether one can be loyal to more than one country. “I only have one wife for that reason.”
“You can only really pledge your loyalty to one person or one country, that’s just a fact,” posited Carlson.
“There are a lot of Americans who’ve served in the IDF and they should lose their citizenship. There are a lot of Americans who serve in Ukraine, and they should lose their citizenship,” he said. “You can’t fight for another country and remain an American — period. Obviously!”
Americans have been “cowed into believing that’s hate speech,” Carlson continued, and added: “You don’t hear hate in my voice, because there isn’t any.”

Nazism again
Think of what he said – try to be honest – he is 100% correct.
I would go one step further – unless you are working for the US government and assigned to a foreign country- if you spend more then a certain amount of days outside the USA you should lose your citizenship.
First, contrary to your yellow-journalist headline, he mentioned Ukraine too, and did not single out the Zionist pseudo-State. An honest headline would have been that you cannot remain a citizen if you serve in any foreign army.
Second, his position seems very reasonable: if you serve in the armed forces of another country, then you cannot remain a citizen of a different country.
Think about that for a moment, rather than just letting your Zionist idolatry overrule all logic and reason. What if there were a command given in, say the IDF, which were against the interests of the United States? Do you not see the problem there?
In fact, there are already laws in place that require a US citizen to give up his citizenship if he were to join a foreign government, including the Zionist “government”. Where is your Zionist outrage about that?
So pathetic.
many branches of the IDF require you to give up other citizenship. I think its reasonable but i also see reason for american troops to be fighting alongside israel
By Carlson’s and some of the posters “logic” anyone who advocates and acts on behalf of any foreign government should lose their US citizenship. So for example Carlson and the Neturei Karta who are always aviable for Iranian propaganda purposes should lose their US citizenship. They certainly serve Iran.
Carlson is somewhat right about one thing. From the very few ways a person can involuntary lose US citizenship is fighting in the army of a country that is at war with the US. Carlson fights in the propaganda branch of the Iranian army, which as he loves saying was recently at war with the US
It’s a good thing he has one wife or he would marry Condescending Owens ym‘S
My question is quite simple. Did he say this back when Americans went to fight for Ukraine or is he just saying this now (and equating Ukraine situation to Israel) when the discussion pertains to Israel.
If yes, then he’s consistent.
If not, he’s an obvious anti-semite.
Although I simply cannot stand this pathetic man, I hear what he’s saying. I mean think about it. How would you feel if there are Americans serving in the Iranian army? I wouldn’t be too happy.
Whoever is defending Tucker here is naive and just plain stupid. He clearly and obviously means israel and the idf. He is singling out israel and only threw out Ukrain to (ostensibly) appear that he isnt antisemetic. His clear aggenda is always against 1 state in the world. Israel.
How can you complain about other news sites having inaccurate headlines when you post something like this.
I may not like everything he says, this was shallow thinking America first on his part. But he did in no way at all single out the IDF.
The shallow thinking was on the part of his not differentiating between an army, that’s fighting the American fight and the army that’s fighting its own fight.
But in all honesty, who said that’s what the line should be drawn. There is really no perfect place to draw the line.
Tucker has and continues to do things that make me question his judgement. But so far I don’t think that I have seen anything outright antiseptic from him. I have seen allot of short sighted USA first without looking past the moment and what is gained. Allot of those things are not things that Israel would love if they were a reality. But neither would Ukraine.
As a Jew I wouldn’t want those going to fight for the IDF ti have to make that decision. But fundamentally is it wrong for the USA to say that if you join the military of another country that you looses citizenship??
He happens to be a rabid anti-semite but YWN is just acting on “Zionism” here as most countries require giving up citizenship to join a foreign army so bad example
He’s a smart cookie. He’s attacking Israel and jews one by one on a micro level, while fawning over anti semites. He attacks Israel and then throws in Ukraine, but doesn’t mention any other nations. He says the world is going to come to a end if trump bombs Iran and help Israel, and goes all in emotionally. He goes after Bill Ackman while fawning and rationalizing the Emir of Qatar. He goes after his fellow country man and sitting senator Ted Cruz, while fawning and rationalizing the President of Iran. SEE THE PATTERN?
In all honesty, why does the headline read IDF when he said ANY foreign county and mentioned UKRAINE too?? YWN loves to stir up antisemitism.
While not defending Tucker, I’d like to state the obvious. He got the simple fact that Zionism isn’t Judaism and I applaud him for it. Although it’s a no brainer, but for a Christian, it says something when our own brothers are totally in cahoots with Zionism which is the antithesis of Judaism.
It might not come from a deep love for Jews, but knowing there are people that don’t hold us responsible for the for Israel’s senseless war, somewhat makes me feel safer.
He is such a vedge
I too agree that there is merit in saying you cannot pledge loyalty to two masters.
But take into account the fact that in that case there should should be no foreign lobbying.
Anyone who fought in the british army should not have US citizenship
And promoting Iranian talking points against members of congress should be treason!
Basically the point is simple.
Did this ideology develop and then he came to apply it to Israel? Or did his disdain for israel compel him to think up a logical framework for this argument?
I very much believe its the latter.
Furthermore, there is what to be said about going to fight for a freind.
Because thats what normal people do.
ANd no, if you saw a woman who was being attacked, you better hope you are man enough to help her (where possible), and that is not at all an affront to your wife.
Basically this guy throws out some cool sounding blurbs, but he’s a rotten piece of moldy onion.
I find it interesting that people here claim he is anti-semitic or even a “rabid antisemite”.
First, please point to even one statement that he has made/recorded that is even slightly anti-semitic, never mind “rabid”.
Second, at one point he had on his show the Chabad Jewish influencer Chaya Raichik. If you are a “rabid” antisemite, then you’re not likely able to stand having a Jew on your show for an hour or whatever it was, not to mention the prep before-hand, etc.
So, in other words, your idolatry of Zionism is telling you that since he isn’t a Zionist then he must be bad.
@smerel:
Did you really write that? So, you mean that all the Zionists and their lobbyists like AIPAC should have their citizenship taken away. All he said was that if you fight for a foreign army then you need to give up your citizenship. That actually makes a lot of sense, because armies fight other countries. So, his opinion on that is very reasonable, and not at all antisemitic, even if you happen to disagree with his opinion on that.
There is a legal exemption for dual citizens subject to conscription to a friendly army, which would cover US-Israeli duals. American kids who volunteer for a summer in the IDF are legally OK too (they also typically do very low-key stuff). High level security clearance stuff does require renouncing other citizenships (in any country). Mossad agents are often dual citizens לכתחילה, for obvious reasons, and they don’t ask permission from the other country of citizenship, also for obvious reasons…
