BREAKING: House Passes DHS Funding Bill, Ending 75-Day Shutdown

The House voted to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security, ending a 75-day shutdown and sending the bill to President Trump, who has said he will sign it into law.

The measure reopens DHS but does not include new funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Border Patrol, with Republicans planning to handle those agencies separately after Democratic opposition.

The vote came just ahead of a critical deadline, after warnings emergency funding would run out and thousands of workers could go unpaid; DHS agencies will now be funded through Sept. 30.

Separately, the House adopted a budget plan creating a path to fund ICE and Border Patrol long-term, including up to $70 billion over roughly three years, using reconciliation to pass it in the Senate with a simple majority.
