Commuters may want to budget some extra travel time if using the Tappan Zee Bridge this week as pre-construction work for the new span continues.

Drivers can expect lane closures on the northbound and southbound sides of the bridge as crews install devices to monitor the existing structure during construction for the new span.

Also this week, construction starts on the temporary Westchester work trestle, which includes pile-driving operations.
