NYC: Some Rain/Snow Expected Tonight

An area of low pressure passes south of the tri-state region tonight.� As a result . . . a mix of rain and snow is possible this evening before changing to all light snow overnight.� Light snow accumulation is forecast with low temperatures in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.� Sky conditions quickly clear Thursday morning as the system departs to the east and high pressure builds in from the west.� High temperatures will be a few degrees above normal in the low to middle 40s.� Warmer conditions are forecast on Friday as southerly wind flow develops with the high pressure moving offshore.� Temperatures are forecast to be close to ten degrees above normal on Friday.

Precipitation and Timing
NWS is looking for a mixture of light rain/snow to start developing this evening around 7:00 PM.� This rain/snow is forecasted to become all snow starting around 10:00 PM tonight.� Two to three tenths (i.e. 2/10th to 3/10th) of an inch of liquid is expected.� The snow will be wet with only about one to 2 inches of accumulation possible.� Current forecasts are leaning more toward one inch for the city at this point.� The steadiest periods of rain/snow should be between 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM.� Precipitation, be it rain or snow, will likely draw to a close by 3:00 AM Thursday morning.� Chance of snow tonight is 90 percent.

Temperatures
Today: highs in the lower 40s; lows in the lower 30s.
Thursday: highs in the mid 40s; lows in the upper 30s.
Friday: highs in the upper 40s; lows in the lower 30s.
Saturday: highs in the lower 40s; lows in the mid 20s.

Winds
Today: northeast winds 5 to 10 MPH, becoming north after midnight.
Thursday: northwest wind 5 to 10 MPH, becoming west in the afternoon; southwest winds around 5 MPH Thursday night.
Friday: southwest winds 10 to 15 MPH.
