NYC: Warm Temperatures Continue, Potential for Showers and Thunderstorms on Sunday


weatherA Bermuda high will keep the area hot through Saturday. There is only a slight chance of a thunderstorm north and west of the City Saturday afternoon. It will be hot and humid with southerly winds through Sunday. Showers with embedded thunderstorms possible on Sunday with 1/2 inch to 1 inch of rainfall.

Today: highs in low 90s, heat index in low 90s, low of 65
Saturday: high near 90; heat index in the low 90s; low around 66.
Sunday: highs in the mid 80s; heat index in the mid 80s, lows in the middle 60s.

Precipitation and Timing
There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms north and west of New York City Saturday afternoon. Showers with embedded thunderstorms in the New York City area are expected Sunday night, could start early Sunday afternoon, bringing ½ to 1 inch of rainfall. Locally heavier rainfall amounts are possible, however, severe weather is not expected this weekend.
