Assemblyman Hikind Hosts $1800-Per-Head Friendly Fundraiser

Assemblyman Dov Hikind hosted a biannual fundraiser at the Orchidëa restaurant in Borough Park, last Thursday night.

“I don’t know what to say other than that I was overwhelmed and exceedingly grateful for your generosity, and your sincere support,” Mr. Hikind wrote in a blog post Friday morning. “It was beautiful to see quite literally every faction of our community and beyond come together from the largest Chasidic groups to the Sephardic community.

It was the most successful event i have ever held,” said Mr. Hikind at the beginning of his radio show Saturday night.

According to some who attended the event, Yoni Hikind, Dov’s son who was seen as a possible successor until Purim of this year, spoke very warmly about his father and his personal devotion in serving the community throughout his 3 decade public service.

Senator Simcha Felder, Rabbi Mordy Melman, Dr Rabin Rahmani, Rabbi Chaim Glanz, Rabbi Elchonon Schwartz and local organizations’ heads were among the guests at the fundraiser. Also attending the fundraiser, were representatives of local yeshivas and mosdos who were asked, by  the office of Assemblyman Hikind, to each bring 2 contributors of $1800 to show their appreciation of Mr. Hikind’s help during his years in public service, our sources tell YWN.

Mr. Hikind’s campaign committee – Friends of Dov Hikind – had $1,034,665.88 cash on hand, according to the January 20103 disclosure report.
