The Gerrer Rebbe was about to board the airplane on his trip to raise funds in London, Los Angeles, and New York when Eli Yishai (Shas) met him. “We must form a haredi bloc of 18 MKs � this way we can unite and work together for the good of the Torah world and we will fulfill the promises we gave the voters who elected us to the Knesset,” pleaded Yishai. An official at the UTJ party said that the Admor of Gur responded with a “broad smile, and nothing else.” Hasidic officials at the UTJ added that the Gerrer Rebbe gave Yishai the impression that the party is doing all the necessary calculations, and the party hasn’t said the last word on the matter.
