Pittsburgh boosts security for Jewish community


WPXI: Pittsburgh’s mayor ordered increased police protection of the city’s Jewish community and synagogues in the wake of a fatal shooting at a Jewish center in Seattle.A spokesman for Mayor Bob O’Connor says the city wants members of the Jewish community to feel confident and comfortable that they can worship without fear .Uniformed and undercover officers are involved in the patrols.

One woman was killed and five people, including a pregnant woman, were injured Friday in the attack at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Seattle police say Naveed Afzal Haq was arrested soon after the shootings for investigation of homicide and attempted homicide.

About 40-thousand Jews live in Pittsburgh.
