El Al gets threatened in Brussels


RT: Security measures were strengthened at Brussels airport on Monday after a letter threatening attacks on Israel’s El Al airline was found there a day earlier, Belgian police said. “At the moment police patrols are reinforced,” said Evie Claes, deputy spokeswoman for the Belgian federal police.“Once the threat is evaluated we will adjust security measures,” she added.The Belgian news agency Belga said the letter, found in a toilet, referred to Israel’s offensive against Lebanon.

“It’s a threat just like many we receive. We will follow this one up,” a spokeswoman for the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Monday.

An El Al official said the airline’s operations at Brussels airport were continuing as usual.

More than 5,000 people demonstrated in Brussels on Sunday in protest against the Israeli bombing of the Lebanese village of Qana which killed at least 54 civilians.
