Manchester: Thieves rob Frum home at knife-point

Armed thieves broke into a home in Salford (Manchester, UK) and held a knife to the throat of a Frum 10-year-old boy, demanding that he tell them the location of the safe.

The two masked men – armed with a knife and a gun – forced their way into the home in Legh Street, in Higher Broughton, at 7.30AM yesterday after a woman had rung the intercom, claiming that their car had broken down.

They bundled the three adults and five children into one room then led the adults and one of the children around the house, demanding they hand over money.

During the ordeal they put a knife to the throat of the child, demanding he tell them where the safe was. The little boy said the family did not have a safe.

After an hour one of the women raised the alarm from an upstairs window and the robbers left, heading off in the direction of Bury New Road.

The thieves got away with mobile phones and a small quantity of silver jewellery.

The family was shaken but unharmed, apart from a 10-year-old boy who suffered reddening of the skin from where the knife was held to his throat.

The men were both described as Asian, 20-30 years old, 6ft tall and of slim build.

Both were wearing dark-coloured clothing and spoke English along with a second language.

The family is appealing to anyone who was in the area around Legh Street, Northumberland Street and Bury New Road that morning, to please get in touch with the local police.
