VIDEO & PHOTOS: WTC Memorial At Ground Zero On 10th Anniversary

[VIDEO & PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Applause and cheers greeted President George W. Bush Sunday as he took the podium to mark the moment the second plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center: 9:03 a.m., Sept. 11, 2001.

He read a quote from President Abraham Lincoln, who wrote to a family member of a fallen soldier during the Civil War:

“I pray that our heavenly father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the alter of freedom.”
