  1. sorry i am so confused. i dont know if i should cry or laugh..From one side i see loads of young children who want to be close to Hashem and they looking forward for You selicho vkapureh and pray to hashem he should forgive them and write them all in the book of Life,Parnassah and all they need.
From the other side i see a bunch of chasidim who belong to Chasidishe rebbes and why are they nebech coming to Yoli Lebowitz for Selichos?
Nothing wrong to come to Yoli L. for Selichot but Chasidim for hundreds of years traveled to their Rebbes for Selichot,Yumin Noyruim, and Hoshana Rabe and simchat Torah.
Dancing to music at selichot has NOT been the derech of our Gedoyle Hador,Tzadikim.
The only way to justify they probably do not belong to any Rebbe or Chasidus and they thirsty for a warm bal tefilla who can make a difference in their life

  2. Reb Yossel, I share your confusion. Selichos night with music and an open Mechitzah? Are there a shortage of ways to spend this holy night that don’t involve entertainment? If music were allowed would we have a band for Kol Nidrei? I agree for some this is better than the alternative but there seem to be many in that audience that should have been elsewhere. Nebach.

  3. Stop labeling everyone and think out of the box for a minute. Just because he looks a certain way does not mean he is that way. Many people dress chassidish but thats because they have no choice. Inside they may want a different shnit. Same goes for a black hatter. Stop playing gid and just assume that everyone is there to be inspired regardless how they look. Its precisely because you label them that we have problems today.

  4. To all naysayers: the chasidish lvush is nothing more than a style. Unfortunately basic emunah is not taught in chasidish yeshivas today and Rabbi YY offers basic lessons in emunah that we were not taught in yeshiva

  5. when did it become the “in thing” to go to a concert on selichos night?

on the bright side, they are in shul for the concert and not at a lady gaga concert.
