PHOTOS: Har Habayis Shutdown Continued Sunday Morning

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

The accompanying photos show the lockdown imposed on Har Habayis on Friday, due to the fatal terror attack, was still in effect on Sunday morning.

Two policeman were murdered when three terrorists opened fire at them, leaving a third policeman moderately wounded. Following the exchange of gunfire, which took place on Har Habayis, the order was given to shut down Har Habayis. The move resulted in an outcry from Waqf officials.

However, Israeli officials remained firm, tenacious in enforcing the closure. For the first time in a very long time, the gates to Har Habayis were closed to all, including Muslims, and they remained that way through Sunday morning.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu held a phone security consultation with commanders of various agencies before leaving on a scheduled trip to Europe and it was decided to maintain the closure until Sunday afternoon.
