Sunday Morning Violence on Har Habayis


hha1Arabs attacked police on Har Habayis on Sunday morning 1 Elul. One policeman was struck with a piece of wood and lightly injured as a result.

Two Jews were arrested on the holy site earlier as one, a 35-year-old man, began singing “Ohd Yeshama” to a chosson while the other displayed tzitzis on his garment.

It is added that Gedolei Yisrael throughout the generations have ruled one may not visit Har Habayis. This is the ruling of Gedolei Yisrael today as well, in addition to being the position of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Honenu reported early Sunday afternoon that a 19-year-old Jewish male was arrested on Har Habayis and it is working to determine the reason for his arrest. It has been reported the young man was verbally assaulted by Arabs during a visit to which he responded “Mohammed is a pig” and promptly taken into custody.
