Parents Of Elor Azariya Submit A Second Pardon Request To President Reuven Rivlin

Mr. & Mrs. Charlie and Oshra Azariya have filed a second clemency request on behalf of their son Elor, hoping this time around, President Reuven Rivlin will agree to pardon the former IDF sergeant, who was convicted of manslaughter after firing at and killing a wounded Arab terrorist, who the court decided had already been neutralized. Elor was sentenced to 18-months imprisonment for his manslaughter conviction, which was knocked down by four months after seeking leniency from IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gadi Eizenkott.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is among those calling for a pardon for the young former soldier. The same hold true for Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman. At present, Azariya is scheduled for release in October 2018.

In their latest request, the parents of Elor attached the signatures of 55 MKs and cabinet ministers who back their request, including PM Netanyahu, DM Lieberman, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Welfare Minister Chaim Katz.
