If one travels to certain areas of Jerusalem, one gets the impression flags are everywhere ahead of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Jerusalem Day.
Officials in Jerusalem City Hall report, in fact, in honor of Israels 70th Independence Day, there are 4,000 flags dispersed around the city along a 23-kilometer route to decorate the city appropriately for this weeks events, which are followed by Jerusalem Day.
In addition, the Cords Bridge is illuminated in blue and white and festive lighting can be seen elsewhere, including downtown Jerusalem areas including main streets, streets leading to entertainment venues and Independence Park.
And finally, there is a digital map which provides online information regarding many functions scheduled to take place in the city.

I strongly disagree with the last sentence. The Chareidim in Israel have a symbiotic relationship with the nonreligious Israelis; one can not survive without the other.
