Secretary of State Marco Rubio: We had two choices for the challenge of Syria:

1) Let the place fall apart allowing for civil war, mass migration, and a playground for terrorists.

2) Work with the interim authorities, President Al-Sharaa, and his team.

We chose option 2. It makes the most sense.
