IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has appointed Rear Adm. Tal Politis as Israel’s next defense attaché to the United States, ending a six-month vacancy in the role. Politis, currently the Navy’s chief of staff, will be promoted to vice admiral upon taking the position.

Zamir also appointed Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram to head the IDF Operations Division following the resignation of Brig. Gen. Yisrael Shomer. Both appointments were approved by Defense Minister Israel Katz.
