The State Attorney’s Office filed indictments with the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court against four defendants, all residents of Beit Shemesh, for their alleged involvement in the protest outside Justice Sohlberg’s home in Alon Shvut. Prosecutors are seeking their detention until the conclusion of proceedings, while investigations into other suspects continue.
The defendants were not indicted for damaging property; the offenses attributed to them are unlawful assembly, and for two of them, trespassing.
According to the indictment, after Sohlberg wrote and signed court orders ordering the imposition of criminal measures against bnei yeshivos and urging the police to arrest them, notices were posted throughout Bnei Brak on June 3, 2026, including in several shuls, announcing a protest near Sohlberg’s home that same day.
The indictment further alleges that an individual whose identity remains unknown chartered two buses and a minibus to transport participants to the site. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the vehicles departed Bnei Brak carrying more than 100 people, including the defendants.
According to the charges, the vehicles arrived in Alon Shvut at around 8:20 p.m., and participants began marching toward the justice’s home under the direction of another unidentified individual. Dozens then gathered around the house and began shouting, including cries of “Gevalt.” As the events unfolded, Justice Sohlberg and his wife reportedly locked themselves inside their home.
The four defendants were not charged with smashing windows, damaging a vehicle, or causing any other property damage. The main offense attributed to all of them is unlawful assembly, and two are also charged with trespassing in order to commit an offense, after allegedly entering the parking area adjacent to the home.
Apparently, police do not have evidence identifying who caused the damage to the home, and have also not succeeded in identifying who organized the protest.
According to prosecutors, some residents believed a security incident was taking place and entered protected rooms. A police vehicle that arrived at the scene allegedly had to withdraw after participants ran toward it shouting slogans including “Nazis” and “We will die and not enlist.”
The indictment alleges that all four defendants took part in the riot, and that two of them entered the home’s parking area. All four are charged with rioting, while two also face trespassing charges.
The investigation into additional suspects is continuing under the Yehuda and Shomron District’s major crimes unit.
