Rav Tau Shlita: Bennett is Harming the Torah World

tauRabbi Tzvi Tau Shlita, a leading voice in the dati leumi community accuses Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett of harming the Torah world with his actions. He is among the dati leumi rabbonim calling on Bennett to compel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to enter into negotiations with the chareidi parties before it is too late, before a coalition is formed excluding the chareidi representatives.

The rav, who serves as president of Yeshivat Har HaMor sent a letter in which he writes “All the talk and suggestions regarding the reduction of Torah study in Israel, setting quotas and reducing support and budgeting by elements lacking knowledge and political manipulations that damage the crown of Torah and lead to chilul Hashem, and the humiliation of Israel chas v’sholom.”

The rav explains that what he views as relevant is not relevant and the actions leading to the reduction or cessation of limud Torah chas v’sholom are unacceptable.

“The Torah is the lifeblood of our country and the minority character is undermining the whole building.” The rav calls for mesirus nefesh, warning not to head down a road that results in a cessation of limud Torah, warning of the path the party has taken.

Rav Tau’s letter joins a public call from Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita and Rabbi Elyakim Levanon Shlita, both prominent poskim in the dati leumi community, both calling on Bennett to move ahead with a deal with the chareidim, not Yesh Atid.

  1. It is interesting that the rabbanim (both hareidi and zionist) seem to have a better realization of how profound the changes are in the political system due to Bennett having allied with Lapid (is fellow capitalistic “yuppie”) rather than with the hareidim. Bennett and friends have not though this through to the probable end.

The “new order” that will result will see the hareidim on the left (pro-welfare, anti-conscription, not overly supportive of settlements) leaving the Dati Leumi on the redefined and shrunken right (free market oriented, anti-welfare, pro-settlement but including parties for whom it is a low priority).

  2. If bennett goes ahead without the “frummers” he will be a passing faze, at the next elections he will wither away as history shows happened to all anti torah parties, look at shinu, kadima etc
This coaltionwont last very long and he and his partners will find a diffrent way to change the world

  3. but why do they write these letters at the last minute. They should have written this 2-3 weeks ago.

Bennett is about to sign any day ?

I think it is too late ?

2-3 weeks ago they may have had a chance ?
